Hey, I’m Niamh! 👋

I’m the co-founder at Irish Travel Gang, and I’m so excited to share this adventure with you!

I first visited Brazil in 2024, and it quickly became one of my favourite travel destinations. Incredible landscapes, delicious food, and friendly people – I know you’ll fall in love with this country as quickly as I have!

I adore hosting our group tours and sharing my favourite local spots. I’ll be there throughout the trip to make sure everything runs smoothly, answer any questions, and most importantly, make sure that this is a trip to remember!

We will be staying at the 4* Americas Benidorm Hotel in Rio, just 400m from Copacabana beach! We will have a buffet breakfast available each morning, as well as a rooftop pool that will be the perfect cure for any sore heads after a night of samba!

All internal transport in Brazil is included in this tour, such as:

  • Airport shuttle for arrival and departure
  • Private air conditioned bus / van for the group

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival and Samba Class
brazil carnival extension

Let’s Samba!

Today, we arrive in Rio and dive straight into the heart of Brazilian Carnival! Whether you’re joining us for the Carnival extension or continuing with us from the first part of the tour, you’ll have a transfer to your hotel from either the airport or Ilha Grande.

We’ll then head to Cidade do Samba, home to Rio’s legendary samba schools, for a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating the world’s most famous Carnival. We’ll visit the Acadêmicos da Grande Rio warehouse and see the incredible costumes, floats and elaborate creations that bring Carnival to life.

With a guide leading the way, we’ll learn about the history of Samba and Rio Carnival, before getting involved ourselves with a fun samba and percussion workshop. Learn the rhythms, try out the dance moves and get into the Carnival spirit!

We’ll finish the experience with a traditional Caipirinha toast to celebrate the Samba Spirit.

Carnival at the Sambadrome

Tonight, we experience Rio Carnival at its absolute best as we head to the iconic Sambadrome for the spectacular Samba Parade!

We’ll have bleacher seats, giving us an elevated view of the parade and allowing us to take in the incredible samba schools in their entirety as they make their way down the Sambadrome. Expect elaborate costumes, incredible floats, huge dance performances and infectious samba rhythms as the schools compete for the title of Carnival champions.

The parade kicks off in the evening and continues late into the night, creating an unforgettable Carnival experience that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Get ready to dance, sing, soak up the atmosphere and experience one of the world’s greatest celebrations! 🎉💃🇧🇷

Street Parties

Today, we experience Carnival like a local as we head out into the streets of Rio with a local guide to discover some of the city’s famous blocos!

Blocos are the heart and soul of Rio’s street Carnival, bringing together huge crowds, live music, dancing and plenty of samba as the celebrations take over the city. Our guide will show us some of the best spots to experience the Carnival atmosphere, helping us navigate the crowds and discover different blocos throughout the day.

Get ready to dance, meet new people, soak up the Carnival spirit and experience Rio at its most colourful and energetic!

Jungle Jeep Tour

This morning, we’ll jump into open-air jeeps and head into the heart of Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the world’s largest urban forest. Get ready for a completely different side of Rio as we wind through lush jungle, waterfalls and tropical landscapes right in the middle of the city.

Along the way, we’ll stop at Chinese Vista, one of Rio’s most spectacular viewpoints, with incredible panoramic views stretching across Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Keep your eyes peeled as we explore – monkeys, sloths and colourful tropical birds are often spotted among the trees.

On the way back to the hotel, we’ll make one final stop at São Conrado’s Pepino Beach, where we can watch hang gliders and paragliders soar dramatically over the coastline. Not a bad way to spend a morning in Rio!
