We’re kicking off the adventure in Moshi – a vibrant town nestled at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. You’ll be welcomed at Kilimanjaro airport by the Travel Gang, and you’ll start the journey to our hotel. Take some time to relax after the flight, or if you’re too excited, this is a great time to head out and see the Chemka hot springs!
In the evening we’ll all meet at the hotel for our welcome dinner. We’ll get to know each other over some traditional Tanzanian food, and settle in with your travel family for the next few days!
I hope you put down the Konyagi and headed to bed early, because today we have a scenic day hike on Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route. We’ll start with a morning transfer from our hotel to Marangu Gate.
On our trek we’ll passes through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m), offering chances to spot wildlife and enjoy mountain views. After a short rest and lunch, you descend the same route and return to the hotel in Moshi the same day.
We’ll wake up early today and spend some time in Materuni – an authentic tribal village that is home to the Chagga tribe. After a short 1hr hike you’ll arrive at one of the most impressive waterfalls I’ve ever seen. The falls are more than 80m high, and if you’re feeling brave, you can go for a swim at the bottom.
We’ll then head back to Materuni village for a traditional lunch and a chance to taste local banana beer. Our last activity is a coffee making experience that will have you singing, dancing, and ready for a nap on our drive to Karatu.
We’ll leave early in the morning for our first safari experience in Ngorogoro Crater. This is the the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera, and the landscape here is absolutely breathtaking!
If we’ve got the luck of the Irish, we’ll hope to see some amazing wildlife including lions and rhinos. In the evening, we’ll be driven to Moyo Tented Camp, where we’ll spend a night in the Serengeti National Park.
Sleeping in the Serengeti gives us the best opportunity to see some amazing wildlife, as they are most active in the mornings. We’ll have an early morning game drive in the park, before returning to our Hotel in Karatu for the evening.
On the drive back we will pass through the beautiful Ngorogoro Crater – enjoy your last glimpse of the mainland as we’ll be flying to Zanzibar tomorrow! In the afternoon enjoy some free time relaxing at the hotel.
In the morning we’ll have a transfer to Arusha, where we’ll be catching our flight to Zanzibar. Once we land, we’ll have another long (ish) drive to Paje, which will be our base for our time in Zanzibar.
After a busy few days on Safari and Hiking, we are in the perfect place to relax and unwind.
A morning dolphin tour in Zanzibar takes you by boat to the coastal waters, usually around Kizimkazi, where dolphins are commonly seen. Enjoy cruising the Indian Ocean, observing dolphins in their natural habitat, with the opportunity to swim nearby when conditions allow, before returning to shore later in the morning.
The Turtle Sanctuary in Zanzibar is dedicated to the protection and conservation of sea turtles. These sanctuaries provide a safe haven for injured, sick, or endangered turtles, offering them a place to recover before being released back into the wild. Visitors to the sanctuary can observe these magnificent creatures up close, learn about their life cycles, and understand the challenges they face due to threats like habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching. The sanctuary also plays a crucial role in educating the public and promoting conservation efforts to protect sea turtles for future generations.
The day is yours to spend it as you please – whether that’s taking a trip into Stone Town, relaxing at Paje beach, try your hand at scuba diving, or visiting some local caves for a spa day. Whatever adventure you’re looking for, you’ll definitely find it in Zanzibar, or you can take advantage of this downtime after a busy few days.
The Blue Lagoon Zanzibar experience takes you to crystal-clear turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling and swimming. Explore vibrant coral reefs and colorful marine life in a calm, scenic setting, then relax on the beach and enjoy the peaceful coastal atmosphere before returning later in the day
The Kaefunk Sunset Party in Zanzibar is a lively beach experience featuring great music, dancing, and a vibrant social atmosphere. Enjoy refreshing drinks as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, creating a perfect blend of energy, relaxation, and unforgettable coastal vibes.
